Officer Programs
Want to lead the pack? The Indiana Army National Guard offers several routes to become an officer.
See below for which path interests you!
Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC)
ROTC allows college students to earn a degree while preparing to commission as an Army officer. Eligible Indiana Army National Guard Soldiers may participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP), gaining leadership experience while serving in a Guard unit.
Officer Candidate School (OCS)
OCS develops qualified Soldiers into Army officers through rigorous leadership, academic, and physical training. Indiana offers both Traditional and Accelerated OCS programs to prepare candidates for commissioning as company-grade officers in the Indiana Army National Guard.
Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS)
WOCS prepares qualified Soldiers to become Army warrant officers—technical and tactical experts who advise commanders, lead Soldiers, and manage specialized capabilities. It is designed for candidates with strong experience in a qualifying technical field or military specialty.
Direct Commission
Direct Commission provides a path for exceptionally qualified professionals to become Army officers based on specialized civilian or military experience. This option is generally used to fill critical skill gaps and is dependent on available positions and Army National Guard requirements.
