The quiet professionals

Special Forces soldiers, known as Green Berets, are the Army's premier unconventional-warfare force. They operate in small teams, often far from support, working through language, culture and trust to do what larger units can't.

  • Unconventional warfare: operating with and through local forces.

  • Foreign internal defense: training and advising partner nations.

  • Special reconnaissance: eyes where no one else can be.

  • Direct action: precise, small-footprint strikes.

  • Counterterrorism: high-stakes, no-margin missions.
